Thanksgiving Week on Kiawah

Kiawah Island has an abundance of activities during the Thanksgiving holiday!  In addition to the bountiful restaurant offerings there are many fun, family traditions to join in on!

The Kiawah Island Turkey Trot is a great way to work off a little "pre-calories" before your Thanksgiving meal!  Speaking of turkey's-check out the amazing chocolate creations made by The Sanctuary's pastry team.  These beauties will be on display outside of the Grand Oaks Ballroom during their dinner services.

Tom the Turkey will be chasing.....

The Indian & the Pilgrim...

Here are close ups of the boys!

Pretty cool that those are made out of chocolate!!  :)

On Friday, November 23rd, The Sanctuary will host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting-complete with carolers, hot chocolate and Christmas Cookies.  Be there a little before 5pm to get your spot in the Lobby!

Santa, Mrs Claus and one of his elf helpers arrive on Saturday, November 24th at 3pm.  Enjoy roasting s'mores and a beverage from The Lobby Bar while Mrs. Claus reads classic children's Christmas stories.  Santa will be waiting to listen to each child's special Christmas list!

We, at Cobblestone Destinations, wish you and your family a safe, relaxed and fun filled Thanksgiving.

The Ocean Coures prepares for the tournament!

It is hard to believe that there are less than 30 days left until the PGA Championship.  Kiawah Island will host the top golfers in the world at this event.  You don't want to miss the excitement as players like Phil Mickelson, Webb Simpson, Vijay Singh, & Tiger Woods come together to play The Ocean Course.

I went out this past week and grabbed some shots of the course as we prepare it for this  tournament!   All tents, stadiums, and hospitality sky boxes will be ready to go on Monday.  Its amazing to watch it all come together.

Rhett's Bluff Nature

All over Kiawah you will see some type of beautiful nature which is one of the most defining things about the island.  There is not a place that you will go where you will not be overwhelmed by pristine nature.

However, one of our most favorite things about the home in Rhett's Bluff is the peaceful calmness that is Rhett's Bluff.  Blissfully unaware would be a great way to describe this sleepy section of the island.  We've found that some of the best animal sightings are found back in Rhett's Bluff.  Most recently we had this beautiful bobcat sitting on the dock of a neighboring house.

There truly aren't very many places left where man and animal peacefully coincide.  While on Kiawah enjoying all of the beautiful amenities, take the time to relax and sit quietly thus allowing you to see the true island residents.  And as always, be sure to respect them and their place on Kiawah Island.

Caviar & Bananas

Located on George Street in downtown Charleston, is a great little cafe & bakery called "Caviar & Bananas."

You'll find some of your favorites and some really unique spins on really simple food.  Such as this cool watermelon dish.  They added an eye dropper full of this sweet liquid to squeeze on top.  Making your food not only look and taste good, but fun to eat!
Your basic mac & cheese casserole tastes delish too!  Nothing like some crispy cheese on the outside to make you dig in!

My old standby is a good sushi roll and this place does not disappoint.

In addition to eating in their cafe, they have great to go items too such as this wild mushroom risoto.

If you are in the Charleston area and looking for a great but quick place to eat, you should stop in to Caviar and Bananas.  Pair a great craft beer with their food and you've got a meal!

Muse

Tucked away off of King and Society Street you will find Muse Restaurant and Wine Bar.  Set in an old historic Charleston home, Muse is a favorite amongst locals.    The menu is inspired by dishes of the Mediterranean and is made with local ingredients.  With over 100 wines by the glass and a wine list of 500 bottles, you are sure to find the perfect pairing with your meal.

We recently ate at Muse and had an incredible meal.  You must try their bruschetta which changes nightly and also their baked calamari.  The ingredients were so fresh and the combinations just exploded in your mouth.  Our bruschetta had little bits of cauliflower and mushroom pate-it was heavenly!

For our main courses, we tried the basil gnudi which was house made and tossed in pea tenrils with a summer squash sauce and ricotta salata and their special of the night which was a soft shelled crab.

And for the purposes of this blog only (ha ha) we decided to try one dessert.  It was an amazing polenta cake with lemon curd and raspberries.  It truly did melt in your mouth.

If you are looking for an amazing meal at not a bad price (our meal was $160) check out Muse.  I think you'll really love it!  Muse Website
